Beech frame square backed armchair with carved legs, with carved rosettes and fluting on the font and back legs
upholstered in 19th century pale green silk velvet with brass studs.
This sort of sobre design is typical of the Louis XVI period when there was a reaction against the
exuberence of the pieces made during the reign of Louis XV, curves were replaced by straight lines and simplicity became the look.
