Faience by the French artist Jean-Paul Gourdon born Marmande 1956. The immaculate whiteness of earthenware, the soft grey and terracotta colours of the earth are part of the beauty of these individualworks of art. This gifted artist works in the manner of the 18th century and makes beautiful “faience” (earthenware) lifesize fruit and vegetables inspired by his own vegetable garden in the south west of France. He chose to work in white because of it’s simplicity and it’s purity.
He was given the accolade “best French craftsman” in 1997. These unique pieces are now in the collections of many admirers aeound the world and we are proud to represent him in England. |
